ID requirements

The Anti-Money Laundering and Countering Financing of Terrorism Act requires New Zealand to meet international standards of customer identity verification.

Before we can assist you with an investment or insurance policy we are required by law to receive certified copies of:

• of an approved identity document and
• address verification, dated within the last three months.
• PROOF of a New Zealand Bank account. Something generated by the bank with your acount name and number.

The table below outlines the personal identification and address confirmation documents that we require in order to process your application. It is important to note that you must have signed your New Zealand passport for us to be able to accept it.

Please remember that your identity documents must be certified. If you make an appointment and bring the originals into our office we can certify them but we must see you in person.

A Certified Copy of Identification which must be current.		PLUS Address Verification (dated within last 3 months) showing your name and address
New Zealand Driver Licence; or		Bank statement; or
New Zealand Passport/Citizenship Document (signed); or		Utility bill (i.e Sky, electricity, water); or
Firearms Licence (signed)		A New Zealand Government department letter (i.e IRD)
If you are not a New Zealand citizen, you need to provide the identification documents stated above, as well as proof of your Resident status.

Investing on behalf of a minor we require certified copies of the birth certificate of the minor and identity documentation for the guardians as per above.

Certification of your personal identity documents must be done by one of the following:
Lawyer Registered medical doctor Public notary Commonwealth representative	Chartered accountant Registered teacher Member of parliament Minister of religion	Justice of the Peace An employee of the police who holds the office of constable New Zealand honorary consul
In addition, the individual certifying your documents must not be:
Yourself Under 16 years of age Your spouse or partner	Related to you (e.g. your parent, child, brother, sister, aunt, uncle or cousin)	A person who lives at the same address as you

The individual certifying copies of the documents must sight the original document and write the following on the photocopy:

• "This photo copy is a true and correct copy of the original document which has not been altered in any way." Or words to that effect
• Their name
• Their occupation and signature
• The date of certification

Certification must have been carried out within the past three months.
